While most men have no reason to worry about the size of their penis, it is incredibly common for men feel insecure about their penis size. The truth is that an overwhelming amount of women are not overly concerned with size and care more about intimacy and performance.

The size of a man’s penis is almost completely out of his control. In fact, there are only two real factors that influence the size of a man’s penis:

Genetics: The biggest factor to influence penis size is simply genetics. Some family lines just naturally develop a larger penis. A man can’t pick his family so ultimately there is nothing he can do about his genetic makeup.

Testosterone levels: Once a boy reaches puberty, his testosterone levels start to dramatically increase. Testosterone plays an important role in almost every aspect of growth and development during this period, including the length of the penis. Therefore, a boy with low testosterone will not grow and develop as much as he could possibly grow.

In some cases, a third factor can play a role. If an injury occurs near the penis or directly affects the penis before or during puberty, this can stunt growth. In some cases, this can be treated, although some injuries will cause permanent damage.

As mentioned before, men care about penis length much more than they should. Just about any man does not necessarily need penis enlargement and there are no real symptoms. Essentially, penis enlargement is really more to change a man’s perception of himself.

There are two real proven treatment options for penis enlargement and they are:

Surgery: Surgery is an expensive penis enlargement solution and can be performed in several ways. However, surgery is incredibly complicated and because it is generally not considered a necessary procedure, most insurance companies do not cover the procedure.

Surgical procedures also come with several risks and/or complications that can negatively impact one’s health. Due to these risks, many men considering a procedure opt for an alternative treatment method.

Extenders/Pumps: A penis extender or pump essentially stretches the tissues in the penis. This causes tissues to divide and grow new cells in the penis. While the mechanism is simple, extenders/pumps are growing in popularity due to their simple use and fairly inexpensive price compared to other treatment options.

Supplements are also a third option, although they are largely untested and unproven. Therefore, they are not a viable option for most men attempting to enlarge their penis.

While a large percentage of men are worried about the length of their penis, the truth is most men have absolutely no reason to worry. According to several studies, most women are concerned with overall performance and the intimacy of sex, not the length of a man’s penis.

Various studies have been conducted around the world to test the average penis size. Most of the time, the average length is around 5.5 inches. However, since genetics, hormonal and environmental factors all affect penis size, some areas in the world have a slightly higher average penis size.

Several studies have also shown that having a large penis can actually negatively impact the quality of sex. This is because the vaginal cavity is only about four inches deep. Therefore, men with incredibly large penises can actually cause vaginal bleeding and/or pain, which can lead to poor, unsatisfying sex.

In general, men should not worry about the size of their penis. If for some reason, a man simply cannot come to terms with the length of his penis, there are treatment options available. While unneeded, various treatment options can increase the girth and length of the penis to alleviate any self-image issues a man might feel about his penis.

Most men are incredibly self-conscience about the size of their penis even though statistics have shown that is unnecessary for men to do so. While men still continue to struggle and feel inadequate about the length of their penis, men need to learn that their penis size is almost completely out of their control.

There are two main factors that influence penis size, which are the following:

Genetics: Genetics play the primary role in determining the length of a man’s penis. Studies have shown that a man generally has very similar penis size to men in his bloodline. However, this is not always the case and other factors can cause a very large increase or decrease in size for future bloodlines.

Testosterone levels during puberty: A male child’s penis generally sees very little growth until puberty, which is when most growth occurs. Testosterone affects just about every aspect of growth in the body including the penis. Therefore, low testosterone production can negatively impact the growth of the penis during puberty.

Other Factors Influencing Size

Other studies have found that environmental factors can also influence the size of a man’s penis. For example, one study found that child living in areas considered safe surrounding Chernobyl had several health problems, including genital deformation. Likewise, exposure to other toxins in the air or water supply also negatively impact hormone levels and can lead to genital deformation.

Another common belief among leading researchers is that both diet and exercise habits during puberty affect penis size. While the exact mechanism is unknown, some researchers believe an unhealthy diet and poor exercise habits can affect hormone levels like testosterone, which influence growth and development.

Finally, physical injuries to the groin area can affect penis size, especially before and during puberty. While sometimes a groin injury may not cause permanent damage, treatment might still be needed to enable continued growth of the penis. However, in some cases, damage might be permanent and growth is unable to continue.

While most men do not need to increase the size of their penis, some men simply cannot get over the desire for a larger penis. Luckily for men, there are several viable penis enlargement solutions, which include the following:

Surgical procedures: There are a variety of surgical procedures that can increase the girth or length of the penis. However, beware because there are several potential risks when going under the knife.

Some procedures are incredibly effective but come with many health risks or potential complications. For example, the most common procedure to increase length is to cut a ligament that attaches the penis to the pelvic bone. This allows more of the shaft, generally around one or two more inches to be visible. This also requires a man to use weights and stretching devices to prevent the ligament from reattaching.

Another controversial procedure is to inject flat, silicone, or tissue grafts into the penis. This is intended to increase the girth of the penis and has been the subject of much scrutiny, due to the frequency of complications.

Undergoing a surgical procedure for penis enlargement is generally effective although there are both health risks and monetary issues associated with it. Surgery can sometimes cost many thousands of dollars and because it is not a needed procedure, many insurance companies only cover a very small portion of the cost, if any at all.

Supplements: Penis enlargement pills and creams have been around for years, although most of the time they are untested and unproven. The side effects of these products are widely unknown and most supplements lack any credible scientific evidence.  Therefore, men are better off if they opt for proven treatment options like an extender or surgery, if they can afford it.

Extenders: Due to the risks of surgery, many men opt for a popular alternative option: a penis extender. An extender stretches the tissues in the penis, which eventually causes cells to divide. This allows for slow cell growth, which increases the length of the penis. Extenders also enable greater blood flow to the penis, which further enhances growth and can help with men suffering from erectile dysfunction as well.

Extenders are a much more affordable option having delivered results for several years. New designs have increased the frequency of results and have reduced the time needed for results. Therefore, many men are opting for an extender instead of pills, pumps, or surgery.
